AEM Cold Air Intakes:
AEM Air Intakes are engineered to add horsepower and reduce restriction compared to an OEM air intake.
All AEM Air Intakes come with a lifetime DRYFLOW Synthetic air filter with great filtration.
AEM Air Intake Systems including our Cold Air Intake, Short Ram Air Intake, and Brute Force Air Intake Systems are guaranteed for the life of your car or truck.
AEM Manufactured in the USA.
AEM was founded in 1987 by John Concialdi (J.C.) and Bob Sullivan as a tuning performance shop catering to vintage automobiles and the latest trend in street tuners, modified imports. Cars and drivers sporting AEM's bright yellow logo became famous in the street racing scene for one consistent reason, they won races. AEM's first glimpse of mainstream notoriety came when cars tuned by their shop won in various classes at the "Battle of the Imports". This highly contested shoot-out and others that followed landed AEM on the cover of Turbo Magazine and Sport Compact Magazine.
AEM pioneered the cold air induction system for sport compact cars in 1994. A cold air intake system relocates the filter outside of the engine compartment to deliver cool air inlet temperatures. Cooler air carries more oxygen, which translates into a more intense explosion in the combustion chamber to create more horsepower and torque. But that's only part of the power equation. Tuning the inlet pipe in length and diameter to match the engine's resonance helps move more air to the cylinders (think of your engine as a big air pump), and this tuning allows us to deliver large power gains. AEM also monitors fuel trim correction factors and all OBDII sensors during R&D to eliminate leaning the engine out and/or throwing a check engine light.
AEM short ram intake systems are an economical alternative to the cold air systems and deliver performance, value and ease of installation. The short ram intakes install easily under the hood and cost less because AEM uses less material to manufacture them. During the development process, AEM found certain applications respond favorably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer cold air designs. For those applications, AEM offers a short ram system only. AEM performs extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment.
AEM developed one of the first Packaged Air Induction Systems and it came right out of their experience in dyno testing, understanding intake energy dynamics and racing at the Battle of the Imports. AEM's presence in the tuner movement and its proximity to Nissan, TRD and Honda allowed them a unique opportunity. By living side by side with racers and working with OES engineers, AEM was able to understand both the practical and theoretical side of engine performance. This combination of street experience and technical savvy resulted in the birth of the first Packaged Air Induction Kit. The kit was offered for sale in 1994 as a Do-It-Yourself upgrade for the Honda CRX and proved to be the beginning of a whole new tradition. People could suddenly purchase affordable cars and modify them for increased torque and horsepower. AEM has been a leader in the development and sale of precision tuned induction systems ever since that fateful day at the Battle of the Imports. Today, the Company's induction systems number in the hundreds and AEM is still the one to beat.
